Welcome to the North Carolina Board of Nursing Licensure/Listing Home Page

This section of the website has been designed to be a user-friendly resource for nurses and those seeking nurse licensure in North Carolina.  Provided are the requirements, updates and important nurse licensure information for the state of North Carolina.

January 2007, North Carolina implemented a cardless licensure system.  All licenses, as well as nurse aide II listings, issued on and after January 1, 2007 are electronic. Employers and the public can access licensure information directly from the NC Board of Nursing database, which is the primary source for nurse licensure information. The database can be accessed via telephone at 919-881-2272 or on our website by clicking the Verify License link.
