As of December 1992, an agency may select up to four Nurse Aide II tasks which may be performed in that agency by Nurse Aide I personnel who have not completed an entire Nurse Aide II Training and Competency Evaluation Program nor have NAII listing. Process for an agency to choose up to four Nurse Aide II tasks to be performed by Nurse Aide I personnel: STEP 1 EITHER: Obtain the appropriate curriculum module (see list below) and related skills checklist competency evaluation for the task(s) by contacting the nursing department of continuing education division of your nearest community college or the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Request each module by number and title. OR Submit your curriculum for the Nurse Aide II task(s) to the Board of Nursing for review and approval prior to teaching the Nurse Aide I.
STEP 2 Notify the Board of Nursing of the Nurse Aide II task(s) that will be performed by Nurse Aide I personnel in your agency and for which all Board stipulations have been met. Use the Notification of Nurse Aide II Task(s) Form. Each agency will receive a verification letter once the Board has been appropriately notified. STEP 3 Maintain documentation of training and competency evaluation for each Nurse Aide I who is approved to perform Nurse Aide II task(s) within the agency.
